The Importance of Water ( READ ME)

Water is vital to our body whether we like to admit it or not.  Not only is water one of the best things you can put into your body but also, it can help regulate a balance diet for those seeking to lose weight.

Everything we do on the daily basis requires energy. The energy we acquire produces heat that then leaves our bodies through perspiration.  Perspiration allows our body to stay at homeostasis.  In other words,  it regulates our body’s temperature. “For the average adult, water accounts for 60 percent of body weight. That water plays a critical role in nearly every bodily process. And being a quart or two low can affect how you feel. Water is key in body temperature regulation” according to University of Rochester Medical Center.

According to http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/6-reasons-to-drink-water Kathleen M. Zelman a well known nutritionists and spokesman for the “Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics explains the importance of staying hydrated with water.   She continues to explain that our body gives us cues to when we are a state of dehydration.  We need to pay attention to what our body is telling us.  After  strenuous work out we lose a lot of water through perspiration.  We must replenish our body with fluids to maintain in good health.

What I found interesting after reading this blog was that the pituitary gland and kidneys play a vital role in our levels of hydration.  The pituitary gland will send messages to the kidney monitoring how much to excrete the water through urine  or whether to reserve it. Our bodies are truly amazing.

In the link above Kathleen M. Zelman shares six reasons to drink water.  One of may favorite reasons that she mentioned was “ 4. Water Helps Keep Skin Looking Good”.  I was like, “wait one darn minute,  and water can help me stay looking younger”?  I for one am terrified and paranoid about aging.   I just tuned twenty-four and I believe it is never too young to start taking care of your body.  What Kathleen explains that "Dehydration makes your skin look more dry and wrinkled, which can be improved with proper hydration," he says. "  Our skin can look healthier and vibrant the more water we drink.  It “locks in the water and acts like a moisturizer.

I have started to drink one glass of water right before I go to bed and as soon as I wake up in the mornings.  I have noticed I have more energy and I feel refreshed.  Not only does it purify my internal system but also it expedites new muscles and  blood cells production.   For those who don’t like water or do not drink at least 8 glasses per day I highly recommend to drink at least one glass before going to bed and waking up in the mornings.  You will notice a difference  in how your feel, I promise.   A simply thing like drinking water can help  you stay refreshed, energized, glowing and healthy.

  1. I began reading this article and it dawned on me, I was thirsty, so thank you for that:)
I can really appreciate this post because I believe it is important for every individual to consume as much water as possible. My body lets me know when I'm dehydrated by giving me a massive headache, I feel sluggish and lethargic, and sometimes I get cranky.

An important water consumption fact that I learned through weight loss is that in order to lose water weight, you must drink MORE water. It makes sense if you actually try it too. Give it a shot!

  2. Having lived in the desert, I certainly know how important drinking a lot of water can be. But I have a questions: does it have to be water or can drinking other fluids, say milk or juice, be as god for you? I know that coffee is a diuretic and not good for hydration. And beer, well pleasant as it is, is not good for hydration (or brain cells). So, how beneficial are water-based fluids other than pure water?

  3. I remember when I was younger, I would like to deal with my thirst with drinking soda. Every time though, I felt like I needed more and more of the sugary drink. With water though, just one glass or eight ounces right away made me feel completely re-freshened. It is amazing how easily accessible water is in the States, yet we completely ignore it for other drinks. I also heard drinking cold water in the morning improves metabolism? Is it fact or myth?
